Featured Glaze Combination - Strawberry Bark
Earthy warmth meets soft berry tones in our latest glaze pairing, “Raspberry Bark”. This stunning combination layers Mayco’s Winter Wood with Raspberry Mist to create rich depth, natural movement, and organic variations reminiscent of textured tree bark with a blush of colour. The result is a beautifully balanced surface that feels both grounded and expressive — perfect for functional ware and sculptural forms alike.
Base Glaze: Mayco Winter Wood (SW-155)
Winter Wood is a warm, variegated stoneware glaze that fires with natural wood-like tones and subtle variation. Its earthy character makes it an excellent base for layering, adding depth and visual interest to both smooth and textured surfaces. When used alone, it offers a rustic, organic finish; when layered, it becomes a dynamic foundation for more expressive glaze combinations.

Top Glaze: Mayco Raspberry Mist (SW-177)
Raspberry Mist is a vibrant yet soft pink glaze with beautiful movement and tonal variation. When layered over darker or neutral bases, it breaks and flows in unexpected ways, creating contrast and visual energy. Its semi-opaque nature makes it ideal for layering over glazes like Winter Wood, where it highlights texture and adds a playful pop of colour.

For best results, apply 2 coats of Winter Wood, allow it to dry completely, then apply 2 coats of Raspberry Mist on top. Fire to cone 6 for a finish with rich contrast, natural variation, and soft raspberry movement over an earthy base.
As with all glaze combinations, results may vary depending on clay body, application thickness, and firing conditions — which is part of the magic of experimenting with layered glazes.
