PSH Cone 6 Glaze – Cherry Bomb Gloss (500 ml)
Cherry Bomb is formulated with a very high stain content to ensure a very intense, clean, red glaze of high opacity when fired to cone 6. Cherry Bomb, Clementine and Lemon Zest glazes contain cadmium pigments encapsulated in zircon, a protective shield that is highly resistant to the solvent action of molten glaze. When fired to cone 6, these glazes are safe for use on all food surfaces and are safe to layer or mix together. Glaze layering or mixing with other glazes, however, isn't recommended for use on food surfaces unless glaze testing establishes that cadmium release is below legal limits.

Food & Dinnerware Safe*
*PSH glazes are considered food safe and dinnerware safe when applied and fired according to the manufacturer’s instructions. All PSH glazes are lead-free. Certain red, yellow, and orange glazes contain cadmium pigments, but these glazes pass Canadian safety standards for cadmium release when fired to the temperature specified on the product label.
It’s important to note that food safety is influenced not just by the glaze’s composition, but also by how it’s used. Factors such as the clay body, firing conditions, kiln atmosphere, and application thickness can all affect glaze stability and surface quality. Improper firing, underfiring, or mismatched clay bodies may result in crazing, surface blemishes, or weakened glaze surfaces that could impact dinnerware safety. Additionally, glazes fired alongside volatile lead-bearing materials risk contamination.
To ensure safe and durable results, always follow recommended firing schedules, select compatible clay bodies, and avoid cross-contamination in kiln environments.
“Food Safe” is a regulation and is defined by the Compliance Policy Guide, which is maintained by the FDA and only applies to lead and cadmium release. For example, “Food Safe” may refer to a glaze in its final, fired state. If a product has a food safe designation, it has gone through testing and passed industry standards for food safety when used according manufacturer’s direction. Finishedware producers bear responsibility for food safe testing their ware being sold into commerce.
"Dinnerware safe" refers to tableware that is considered safe for use with food and drinks. This means that the material used to create the dinnerware has been tested and confirmed not to contain harmful levels of chemicals such as lead or cadmium, which can potentially leach and cause health problems. It also means that the surface of the dinnerware is non-porous and smooth, without any cracks, chips or other imperfections that could harbor bacteria and contaminate food or drinks.
