Spectrum’s 1173 Textured Hot Chowder cone 4/6 stoneware glaze is a glossy, creamy glaze.

All of Spectrum’s 1100 Stoneware Glazes are available in wet formats and are suitable for brush application. Be more careful when using this on vertical surfaces, as it may run. Use fewer coats towards the bottom of the piece.

S1173 is formulated to produce reactions during the firing cycle which give very interesting and beautiful effects. The final appearance of the glaze is dependent on firing temperature, glaze thickness and the composition of the clay body being used.

This glaze is lead-free, however, exceeds the vanadium and/or copper threshold limit in the liquid unfired state and therefore is not non-toxic. However, it is food safe if fired to the proper firing temperature.

Try overlapping glazes for new and interesting glaze results. Some of Spectrum Glazes are designed to move and shift in the glaze firing resulting in beautifully bright and layered looks.
