SIO-2® PF Red Earthenware Low Fire Ceramic Clay Body, 27.6 lb

Traditional red earthenware clay. It is a high quality and polyvalent clay, very popular for its fineness and plasticity. Its coefficients of thermal expansion are ideal for standard pottery glazes, in both single and twice firing processes. Incredible results in reducing atmosphere can be obtained (metallic reflection technique). Available in extruded body (moist form), being suitable for wheel-throwing, shaping and modeling.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Little specs of mold are absolutely normal in ceramic clays and do not affect the characteristics of the product. It is more a question of image than of the quality. SIO-2® Earthenware Ceramic Clay Bodies are a natural product. Most potters know this effect and understand that this does not affect the clay at all, but rather further confirms that the clay is still moist and soft.
The suitable firing range for PF Red Earthenware is Cone 06-04, which works well for both bisque and glaze firings. This means you can bisque fire and glaze fire within this temperature range. However, it's crucial to refer to the specific instructions provided on the label of the glaze you are using, as different glazes may have varying requirements. Ensure that you use a low-fire glaze, with Cone 04 being the maximum temperature. Always double-check the glaze instructions to achieve the best results and avoid any potential issues with your ceramics.
